Position Summary

Casual Library Assistant – CU023 (Casual)

Salary Range: $29.42 - $36.17 per hour + 25% casual loading.

Location: Various Library Branches - (Branches located at Babinda, Gordonvale, Edmonton, Earlville, City, Manunda, Stratford & Smithfield)

Reporting to the Support Services Team Leader, the primary objectives of this position are:

  • To support the Librarian or Supervisor in the provision of high-quality customer focused library services and technology support to the community.
  • Assist with the day-to-day provision of library operations.
  • Contribute, through excellent individual and team efforts, to Cairns Libraries strategic goals and objectives.

To be successful in this role you must have:

  • Working with Children - Blue Card.
  • Secondary School Grade 12 or equivalent, or experience deemed as equivalent.
  • Current QLD Drivers Licence and ability to drive between library locations.
  • Proven excellence in customer service in a busy environment.
  • Demonstrated digital literacy skills including experience using platforms such as MS Office and a capacity to assist customers in the use of technology and technology-focussed library services.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and written skills including the ability to deliver effective support and assistance to customers and staff and relate to people from a diverse background.
