Workforce Development Officer

Reporting to the Team Leader - Human Resources Services this position will have a significant impact across the organisation by driving and developing strategic employment initiatives and programs that attract, retain and create employment opportunities and pathways for Council and the community.
The ideal candidate will have experience in contemporary recruitment, retention and workforce planning strategies, together with exceptional interpersonal and communication skills. The ability to proactively develop, manage and generate repeat business with current clients as well as creating new opportunities is essential. You will also be a savvy networker, mentor and coach as you will be required to offer specialist guidance and support to staff, managers, apprentices, trainees & key stakeholders regarding best practice processes, programs and employment strategies.
The primary objectives of the position are:
- To develop and support contemporary recruitment and retention practices which enable the organisation to undertake proactive workforce planning activities, create employment pathways within Council, and encourage diversity and inclusion within Council’s workforce.
- Guide process and strategy of efficient and effective end-to-end recruitment processes across a large and diverse workforce, including the provision of temporary employee resources via employment agencies.
- Identify, develop and implement targeted employment pathways and programs which will attract and retain employees to Council, including work experience, graduate programs, and traineeship and apprenticeship opportunities.
Qualification / Licence required:
- Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline, such as human resources or organisational development
- Current Drivers licence
