We are now seeking a dedicated, committed and suitably qualified Environmental Health Officer to join our Licencing & Approvals team now. 

The primary objectives of the position are: 

  • To assess and/or coordinate assessment of applications made under Food Act 2006, Public Health Act 2005, Public Health (Infection Control for Personal Appearance Services) Act 2003 to a high performance standard.
  • To assess and / or coordinate assessment of applications made under Council’s local laws and other relevant legislation to recommend outcomes to a high performance standard.

To be successful in this role you will require: 

  • Tertiary qualifications in an environmental health related discipline + relevant experience in regulatory inspections and compliance.
  • Current C Class Driver's Licence (Manual Vehicles).
  • Knowledge of the Food Act 2006, Health Act 2005, Public Health (Infection Control for Personal Appearance Services) Act 2003, Environmental Protection Act 1994 and relevant legislation. 
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • The ability to develop and maintain strong, effective working relationships with staff and a range of internal and external customers.
  • Demonstrated commitment to being a contributing team member that supports, motivates and works towards achieving the corporate goals of the Unit.

Selection Criteria Essential: Do you have a current and valid manual C Class Drivers' Licence (or above) for a manual vehicle?
Essential: Do you have tertiary qualifications in an environmental health related discipline, and relevant experience in regulatory inspections and compliance?
