Salary Range: $76,355.88 - $87,476.83 per annum

We are currently seeking a highly engaged and suitably qualified professional to work across all levels of the organisation to efficiently deliver on all aspects of economic development, including the implementation of strategic programs and projects. This role will involve partnering with key stakeholders to develop and deliver economic development initiatives in the Cairns region.
Key duties & responsibilities include:-
- Develop and deliver actions, projects and programs to implement Council policies as they relate to Council’s Economic Development Strategy.
- Project manage relevant economic development programs and projects identified and funded within Council’s operational plans to ensure achievement of corporate objectives
- Represent and promote economic development and Council within the community, business sector, other local authorities and government agencies.
- Undertake research to identify key issues at a local, state and national level and prepare responses.
- Prepare and present reports and submissions and formulate recommendations.
- Provide advice to internal and external stakeholders in relation to economic and event matters.
To be successful in this role you must have the following:
- Tertiary qualifications in economic development and/or related field; or extensive experience in a similar role.
- Current Driver’s licence.
- Knowledge and understanding of economic development principles within local government and particularly regional settings
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to display diplomacy and tact
- Demonstrated well developed analytical and problem solving skills
- Project management experience
