Position Summary

Waste Contracts Supervisor

 

Salary: $73,211.45 - $83,874.43 per annum

 

 

We are seeking a suitably qualified and experienced Waste Contracts Supervisor to supervise and administer waste collection, recovery and disposal contracts to ensure service requirements are delivered to the highest standards and in accordance with contract terms and conditions. You will also manage assigned programs and projects to support delivery of the Council's Waste Management Strategy.

 

The key duties and responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to:-

Administer waste collection, recovery and disposal contracts to ensure service requirements are delivered to the highest standards.  Contracts may include, but are not limited to, the following:

    • Kerbside Collection;
    • Regional AWT;
    • Hazardous Waste Collection;
    • Processing of Green Waste;
    • Scrap Metal Collection;
    • Other Contracts as they arise.
  • Monitor contractor compliance and carry out contract performance monitoring including maintenance of data management information systems.
  • Analyse and interpret contract monitoring data to identify exceptions and trends which might result in change in risk or cost for the council.
  • Establish and maintain strong business relationships with stakeholders, consultants and contractors.
  • Ensure the delivery of the operational contracts in liaison with the Waste Operations Coordinator.
  • Coordinate tendering processes including preparation of documentation, evaluation and contract execution.
  • Develop and deliver action plans, programs and projects as assigned.
  • Assist in the development of performance indicators for assigned projects
  • Evaluate and report on project performance and progress.
  • Develop and manage consultancies and contracts on specific and on-going waste and resource recovery projects as required.

To be considered for this position you must have:-

  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field; and/or significant experience in a similar role.
  • Significant experience in administering waste and recycling service contracts and/or other service delivery / major contracts.
  • Good knowledge of the waste and recycling industry, including best practice collection, recovery and disposal systems.
  • Demonstrated effective analytical, problem solving and investigative skills with the ability to solve complex situations.
  • Project management skills and experience including preparation and implementation of project budget and project management plans.
  • High level of computer skills in particular in MS Excel, Word and Outlook.
