Position Summary

Building Services Supervisor  

Salary: $76,955.47 - $82,087.35 per annum + super 

Location: 158a Martyn Street, Cairns, Qld

Cairns Regional Council is seeking a dynamic Building Services Supervisor with a trade qualification in building and or experience to join our Facilities Management team now! Assisting the Team Leader Building Maintenance the key focus of this role is it to ensure effective delivery of Building Works & Building Maintenance activities by providing a high level of customer service in delivery of all requests for service as directed by the Coordinator Facilities Management.

Key duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:-

  • Assess building works, provide written scopes of works and specifications in seeking quotations from internal and external contractors.
  • Planning and scheduling of operational works and projects, including preventative maintenance programs.
  • Project Management of minor to medium value Capital and Operational Works Projects for building & facilities related projects.
  • Scheduling of Human Resources, equipment and materials to deliver works efficiently and effectively to meet defined service levels.
  • Ensuring compliance with legislative, regulatory and statutory requirements in the execution of all works.
  • Supervision of Building Services team, including trade staff and contractors.

To be successful you will require:   

  • Formal or Trade Qualification in Building or similar Industry, and/or suitable experience in a Facility Maintenance role.
  • Current C Class Driver’s Licence.
  • Trade experience within the building industry.
  • Demonstrated ability to organise and supervise contractors.
  • Ability to write professional detailed Scope of Work documents.
  • Demonstrated experience in ensuring administrative contracts and functions are executed in accordance with policy and any relevant Australian Standards
  • Demonstrated effective delivery of tasks and projects in a pro-active and efficient manner
  • Proven ability to work within Workplace Health & Safety systems in the workplace environment.
  • Computer literacy
  • Demonstrated supervisory skills
  • Demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, prioritise and achieve performance goals in a team environment.
  • Ability to build effective relationships with both internal and external customers
  • Ability to develop and implement operational procedures and processes to improve performance and service delivery.

Pre-Employment Assessments:   

As part of the selection process, the successful candidate will be required to undertake the following pre-employment assessments:

A six (6) month probationary period will also apply.

Selection Criteria Essential: Do you have a formal or Trade qualification in building or similar industry, and or suitable experience in a Facility Maintenance role?
Essential: Do you have a current and valid C Class Drivers' Licence or above?
