We are now seeking a confident and experienced forward thinking go-getter with outstanding customer service, negotiation and communication skills to coordinate our Council run markets and Community Development activities programs & events.

Key duties & responsibilities of this position include (but are not limited to): 

  • Coordinate and run successful, high-quality local art and craft markets with broad based community awareness, as per Council guidelines.
  • To develop accept and assess all applications for Council managed market stalls, which may include site visits to stallholder premises for inspections.
  • Research for specific markets related improvements and build and expand markets.
  • To develop stallholder terms and conditions relative to individual Council managed markets, and to make recommendations as to Policy direction around Council managed markets.
  • To supervise the on-site operation of the Council run markets, this includes detecting goods and stallholders in conflict with Council’s Market Policy and guidelines.
  • To issue receipts for stall fees collected and reconcile all monies.
  • To liaise with stallholders and manage stallholder issues as required.
  • Establish and maintain network and contacts base with key stakeholders to promote greater participation. 
  • Attendance at after- hours meetings and activities will be required including attendance at community markets to meet Council’s requirements.

To be successful in this role you will require: 

  • C Class Drivers Licence.
  • Demonstrated qualifications in a range of computer applications such as Microsoft Office.
  • First Aid and CPR Certificate
  • Experience in managing grants, programs and activities (including small scale events).
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Excellent communication skills including effective conflict resolution and negotiation skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to show initiative and be a self‑starter.
  • Demonstrated experience in a similar position and/or retail trade business activity.
