Club and Facilities Support Officer

Salary Range: $62,400 - $73,301 per annum

The Cairns region is home to hundreds of community groups who strive to make the region a better place to live and visit.  These groups not only provide diverse programs and activities but also develop and maintain public infrastructure.

In support of these organisations, Council has developed “Go Clubs”. Large or small, new or long established; this program is designed to help the volunteers who operate community clubs of all types, shapes and sizes. Whatever the nature of the operation, Go Clubs provides the tools to become a well-managed, sustainable and successful organisation.

The successful applicant will assist the community to engage with the Go Clubs principles and framework as well as liaise with them on the considerations and responsibilities relating to the ongoing provision of their facilities.

Candidates must possess highly developed written and oral communication skills as well as be adept at developing relationships to deliver mutually beneficial outcomes.  Being highly organised and efficient is a must along with previous experience in Local Government and the Sport and Recreation Industry. 

The role will function in and be supported by an energetic and passionate team with high standards in the delivery of outcomes for the community.

Pre-Employment Assessment:

As part of the selection process, the successful candidate will be required to undertake the following pre-employment assessments;

  • a pre-employment medical, which will include a medical assessment and drug and alcohol test.

Selection Criteria Essential: Do you hold a current "C" class driver's licence?
Essential: Do you have previous experience working in Local Government?
Essential: Do you have demonstrated high level computer skills in particular the Microsoft Office suite of programs (Word/Excel)?
Essential: Do you possess or have ability to obtain a “Working with Children Check” Blue Card?
