Cairns Regional Council is currently seeking a Laboratory Assistant to join our Water & Resource Recovery Department.
Primary Objective of the position:
- Provide support for Laboratory staff.
- Prepare and maintain Laboratory solutions/media and glassware.
- To perform, under regular direction, less complex routine chemical and/or microbiological analyses. Level of complexity of analyses allocated increases with experience.
- Undertake sample collection for the Laboratory’s programs if required.
- Clean and maintain analytical equipment and stores.
To be successful in this role you must have:
- Satisfactory passes at Year 12 Level in Mathematics and Science (Chemistry, Biology or other relevant science subjects).
- Queensland C Class Driver’s Licence or equivalent.
- Experience in a water testing laboratory, or other relevant laboratory experience.
- Effective interpersonal skills and the ability to work co-operatively as part of a team.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritise and organise work to achieve a timely outcome.
