Expressions of Interest are now open for highly energetic, enthusiastic and experienced individuals who have very high standards of presentation and impeccable attention to detail to join our Cultural Services team now!
As the Gallery Assistant your key responsibilities will include assisting the gallery team in the preparation and presentation of exhibitions at our Cultural Service venues and assisting the technical team to ensure that installations of artwork, launches and events run smoothly.
Manual skills are important as you will be required to install and dismount displays from exhibitions, restore gallery walls, construct art sets / theatrical sets and props, frame and un-frame works on paper and use ladders, power tools and hand tools on a regular basis.
To be successful in this role you must have: -
- A keen interest in the Art industry
- A 'good eye' for design and spatial acuity
- Demonstrated experience in displaying visual art
- Experience undertaking manual tasks and experience in using hand tools
- Demonstrated reliability and a proactive approach to tasks
- The ability to teach tasks and supervise small teams of volunteers
- A positive and friendly disposition
- Strong attention to detail
- High standards of preparation and presentation of exhibitions
- The ability to communicate with a broad range of people
- Demonstrate a high level of teamwork
