Cairns Regional Council is currently seeking a Senior Management Accountant to join our Finance Department.
Primary Objectives of the position:
- Fostering a Business Partnership model with your service department, you will promote a “We are here to help” culture within the Finance Department;
- Delivery of financial reporting, assistance, guidance, challenge and support to staff at all levels within the various departments across Council;
- Preparation of operating budgets and forecasts for approval by Council; and
- Provide leadership and coaching to supporting Management Accountants.
What you'll need to succeed:
- Certified Practicing Accountant status (CPA) or Chartered Accountant qualification (CA);
- Experience in commercial and/or government high level accounting acting as a conduit between service areas across the business and a Financial Team to meet service delivery expectations;
- Demonstrated experience in budget development, budget analysis, and the development and monitoring of performance;
- Strong experience in reporting and analytical skills;
- Demonstrated experience in process and system improvements and a continuous improvement approach;
- Demonstrated high level verbal and written communication skills supported by well-developed interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders; and
- Demonstrated commitment to and practice of a participative leadership style that supports, motivates and inspires individual, team and corporate achievements.

As part of the selection process the successful candidate will be required to undertake a pre-employment medical, which will include a drug and alcohol test and a national police history check.
