Love the great outdoors? Council is now offering a fantastic traineeship opportunity in Horticulture. This is an excellent chance for an enthusiastic individual with a keen interest in parks & gardens to join our team now!
As part of the Traineeship you will complete a nationally recognised qualification - Certificate III in Parks & Gardens and gain valuable on the job experience.
Duties include but are not limited to: creating, maintaining and irrigating landscaped gardens & turfed areas within the central district.
You must be reliable as punctuality is essential; possess good maths and problem solving skills; be a team player; display a willingness to learn and take direction and be committed to completing your the traineeship.
To be considered for this role you must meet the following criteria:-
Essential:
Qualifications
- A minimum Year 10 standard of numeracy and literacy.
Knowledge, Skills & Expertise
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Ability to follow work schedules.
People Oriented Skills & Attributes
- Ability to work in a high profile public environment providing quality customer service.
Desirable:
Licence
- Current Queensland Driver’s Licence or ability to attain.
Knowledge, Skills & Expertise
- Knowledge of garden maintenance.
- Ability to generally distinguish different species of plants
- Proven team work experience

As part of the selection process, the successful candidate will be required to undertake the following pre-employment assessments:-
- Pre-employment medical, which will include a functional capacity assessment and drug and alcohol test.
- National police/criminal history check.
