We are seeking an experienced technical officer with a civil engineering background to join our team now! The key focus of this role is to investigate, manage and action requests in relation to minor works related to Council's Infrastructure.
Key Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:-
- Investigate requests, enquiries and other minor works related to Council’s infrastructure and liaise with Councillors, senior management, the public and government and non-government agencies.

Prepare submissions outlining possible capital infrastructure additions or modifications.

Prepare and present reports and attend meetings of Council, committees and other bodies as required.
- Contribute to the project management of minor capital works or special projects as the need arises.
To be successful in this role you will require:
- Tertiary qualifications relating to the position (e.g. Certificate IV Civil Construction, Associate Diploma Civil Engineering) or extensive relevant experience.
- Current Drivers Licence.
- Experience in the design, delivery or maintenance of civil engineering related assets, such as storm water drainage, coastal protection and roads, preferably in a Local Government environment.
- A sound understanding of computer software particularly MS Excel & MS Word. It would also be of benefit to have an appreciation of Council’s works ordering/accounting, Customer Response Management and GIS Mapping systems.
- Good level of oral and written communication skills, possessing an ability to deal with confronting situations and negotiating acceptable outcomes with limited supervision.
- Demonstrated effective communication and negotiation skills, including the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, customers and stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively liaise with other government departments and Authorities.
- Demonstrated organisational skills with an ability to work with a minimum of supervision.
