About the team:

Our safety team has 12 team members who work collaboratively across Council to drive our key message for all staff to "Go Home Safe & Well Today and Everyday".  The team also has the key responsibility to coach, support and engage management and staff to ensure the highest standards of safe work practices and compliance in the workplace.

About the opportunity:

Reporting to the Coordinator - Safety Operations the primary objectives of the position are:

  • To monitor, review and report to the WHS Field Operations Coordinator on the effectiveness of Councils Work Health and Safety Management System (WHSMS).
  • Coach and mentor management and employees on the Safety Circle philosophy.
  • To develop and conduct audits and interactions of the workplace to ensure safe work practices and compliance to Council’s Work Health and Safety Management System.

About you:

The successful applicant will have a relevant qualification such as Work Health and Safety Certificate IV and/or a Diploma of WHS/OHS or equivalent level of expertise gained from a combination of experience, training, qualifications and professional accreditations.

You will also have demonstrated interpersonal, negotiation, and verbal communication skills with a proven ability to liaise and build relationships with all levels of Council.

A commitment to Council’s ‘Safety Circle Culture’ and working within the ‘Safety Circle’, together with have a solutions-focussed / pragmatic approach to compliance issues is essential.
