After Hours Compliance Officer

Hours of Duty: Nominally 72.5 hours, nine (9) day fortnight. Out of usual work hours. This position is required to work on a rotational roster over a 7 day working environment, nominally rotating shifts of:
- 4am to 12:34pm
- 3pm to 11:34pm
Salary Range: Level 3 - $63,647.88 - $68,411.92 per annum + super & penalty rates as applicable

We are currently seeking a supportive, solution focused team player who has a solid background and experience in investigations, local laws compliance & animal management to join our team now!
The key objective of this role is to:
- To undertake regular patrols and attend to enforcement of the relevant Local Laws and legislation outside of usual Council working hours.
- To investigate all complaints alleging breaches of Local Laws and relevant legislation as required by the Supervisor Animal Management.
- To educate, assist and advise the public to ensure the observation of relevant Legislation, Local Laws and Cairns Regional Council Policies throughout the community.
To be considered for this role you must have: -
- A current Driver's Licence
- The ability to work autonomously and independently
- The ability to undertake a variety of strenuous physical tasks and are able to handle animals, in particular, dogs, cats and horses, including the ability to assess and capture animals displaying dangerous behaviour.
- Sound skills in the operation of computer applications.
- Highly developed communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills and the ability to relate in a courteous and diplomatic manner, particularly in dispute situations.
- Demonstrated previous experience in inspection, investigation and basic report writing in relation to local law enforcement.
- Demonstrated knowledge of local government legislation and local laws including those relating to key duties and responsibilities.
