Cairns Regional Council is currently seeking an Asset Accountant to join our Finance Department.
Primary Objective of the position:
- Promote a “We are here to help” culture within the Finance Department
- Provision of comprehensive and professional technical asset accounting advice and support across all areas of Council
- Assist with all aspects of the delivery of Council’s asset accounting unit, including:
- Delivery of timely financial reporting on the value of Council’s property, plant and equipment
- Capitalisation and disposal of Council assets
- Forecasts for the revaluation and depreciation of Council’s property, plant and equipment on a regular basis
- Council’s asset revaluation program
To be successful in this role you must have:
- Bachelor of Commerce / Business or similar
- Studying towards, or eligibility and willingness to study, Certified Practising Accountant status (CPA Australia) or Chartered Accountant (Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia)
- Understanding of relevant Accounting Standards
- Experience working in a relevant finance field
- Sound understanding of accounting systems, computer concepts and programs
- Demonstrated ability to work within and adapt to different team environments
