Venue & Events Supervisor (Casual)

Situated in the Cairns Botanic Gardens precinct, just 4km north of the city’s CBD, the Tanks Arts Centre is an iconic and innovative multi-use, contemporary arts facility housed in three converted World War II naval oil storage tanks, and set amidst a lush rainforest backdrop. The Tanks combines two main functions, that of a ‘presenter’ organisation offering a range of arts and cultural events and activities to a wide audience, and also as a community cultural development organisation which aims to proactively engage local communities in cultural expression and participation.
We are now seeking a highly energetic & experienced Venue & Events Supervisor to join our team now!
The primary objectives of the position are:
- To manage and provide efficient and effective Venue and Patron Services.
- Supervise Cultural Services Events, specifically at the Tanks Arts Centre.
- Supervise the Patron Service team, technicians and contractors throughout all venue productions and events to ensure smooth operation.
- Ensure that Cultural Services venues provide a safe environment for all staff, artists, patrons and members of the public visiting or working in the Centre.
To be considered for this role you must have:
- Demonstrated experience in the delivery of arts, cultural and entertainment events
- Relevant qualifications in production services and/or a minimum of 2 years’ relevant venue / event experience in a theatre company, large venue, major festival and/or entertainment environment
- A Current Responsible Service of Alcohol Certification (RSA)
- Demonstrated leadership and management skills
- General office administration and computer skills
- Demonstrated high level customer service
- Ability to work to a flexible time schedule
- Demonstrated supervisory skills
- Have a courteous and friendly disposition and advanced communication skills
