Botanic Gardens Operations Horticulturalist – WS3252

Primary Objectives of the position:-
- To provide an efficient and high quality standard of amenity horticulture and maintenance in the Cairns Botanic Areas and Precinct in accordance with approved maintenance plans.
To be successful in this role you must have:-
- Certificate in Horticulture and previous experience in amenity horticulture and garden maintenance
- LR Class licence or ability to obtain
- White Card (General Safety Construction)
- Demonstrated experience in tropical garden maintenance, landscape construction, turf and soil maintenance practices
- Proven ability to operate, manage and maintain automated irrigation systems, including repair, electronic desktop and app‑based programming, monitoring and reporting of faults to ganger
- Demonstrated ability to identify and successfully cultivate a range of tropical plant species that occur within Cairns Botanic Gardens
- Proven experience in the identification and treatment of environmental pest species
- Sound knowledge of the use of Horticultural machinery
