Arts & Cultural Support Officer

Reporting to the Manager Cultural Services, we are now seeking a highly experienced professional with initiative, drive and a strong attention to detail to provide comprehensive administrative and business support across our Cultural Services Branch. This role will also involve managing our Botanic Gardens Visitor Centre (BGVC) Gift Shop, including staff supervision, ensuring its smooth operation and exceptional customer service delivery to our staff and visitors of the centre.

The primary objectives of the position are:
- To provide coordination and management of all Cultural Services project support processes, manage Botanic Gardens Visitor Centre (BGVC) Gift Shop team workloads, ensuring the team develop and maintain a high level of customer service and precinct and branch administrative knowledge.
- Coordinate with Cultural Services Manager and Team Leaders, and other relevant Cairns Regional Council business units on the matters of arts administration, Council reporting and delivery of the Cultural Services corporate business processes.
- Provide an exceptional high level of administrative and business support to the Manager, Cultural Services, and to the Cultural Services Branch.
- Develop, manage and deliver processes that support a coordinated approach towards delivering Cultural Services arts & cultural corporate business support.
- Oversee the management of the shop front operations and sale of merchandise, including supplier relations and the ongoing commitment to a varied range of products.
To be successful in this role you must have the following:
- Certificate IV in Business Administration or equivalent.
- Current C Class Driver's Licence.
- Exceptionally high level of arts business corporate support and knowledge in a multi-disciplined arts & cultural environment or demonstrated ability to rapidly acquire an understanding of arts and cultural business corporate support functions within Cultural Services and general Council policies.
- Demonstrated high level knowledge of local government financial processes including grant application and acquittal processes.
- Demonstrated strong interpersonal and supervisory skills
- Ability to plan, initiate, manage, monitor and report on specific projects and programs.
- Demonstrated experience with computer software applications including MS Office and financial packages.
