An exciting opportunity has arisen within our Infrastructure Services, Cairns Works Maintenance Branch for a suitably qualified and/or experienced Arborist to join our team now!
The key function of this role is to provide professional and technical arboriculture advice and expertise in relation to tree management.
Key Duties & Responsibilities include but are not limited to:-
- Develop and monitor tree management strategies that are based on accepted arboriculture practices.
- Conduct visual tree assessments.
- Develop, implement and review programmed pest control programs, maintain relevant records and provision of activity reports as required.
- Develop and manage materials and services supply agreements with contractors and external suppliers.
- Liaise with the general public, Council Departments and Councillors.
- Consult with major stakeholders (ie. Ergon and Main Roads) to provide tree assessments and on-going maintenance plans relating to Council owned property.
- Assist in creating community awareness of tree management.
- Create detailed arboriculture assessments to assist in the documentation for legal matters relating to Council Trees.
- Assessment of development applications for approval of on street works and impacts on existing trees.
- Deliver a high standard of customer service.
To be considered for this role you must have:-
- A Diploma in Arboriculture or equivalent experience within the arboriculture industry.
- A current C Class Drivers Licence / EWP Ticket.
- Experience in developing and coordinating tree management programs.
- Demonstrated ability to prepare tree assessment reports including risk assessment and management recommendations.
- Demonstrated expertise and experience in Contractual Management techniques.
- Well-developed interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills including the ability to develop and maintain relationships with customers and stakeholders.
