Our region offers a wonderful diverse range of arts & cultural activities and programs from concerts, theatre, local and visiting talent and live performances.
At our Cairns Performing Arts Centre (CPAC) you will witness innovative and debut performances in addition to a well-crafted mix of classics and revived theatrical pieces. With multiple performance spaces across the CPAC site, the versatility of the venue enables the presentation of a variety of events including theatre, music, dance, contemporary circus, opera, film and comedy. Our premier facility houses two venues, the main theatre with a seating capacity of 940 people and the studio with a seating capacity of 400.
Our fabulous Munro Martin Parklands (MMP) is Cairns' newest community gathering place complete with an outdoor performance space. The Parklands boast tropical plantings, vine-covered pergolas and arbours and an open-air plaza to encourage passive, casual use of the facility.
An exciting opportunity is now available for a highly energetic, talented & experienced Precinct Manager who will oversee the entire operations, events and personnel in this key strategic leadership role.
Reporting to the Manager Cultural Services, the primary objective of this role is to:
- Effectively manage the operations, programs, activities, maintenance, development and activation of the Precinct venues Cairns Performing Arts Centre and Munro Martin Park (‘CPAC & MMP’) and Cultural Services external events.
- Develop and lead highly effective skilled and technical work teams to deliver the strategies designed to enhance the City’s national creative cultural and artistic competitiveness and delivery of a diverse artistic program to the satisfaction of the community.
To be successful in this role you will require:
- Relevant tertiary qualification e.g. in Arts Business along with commensurate experience in performing arts centre venue, event and program management.
- Current Queensland driver's licence.
- RMLV Registered Manager of a Licenced Venue (or ability to obtain).
- Extensive demonstrated understanding of the performing arts and entertainment industry, event ticketing, technical production services, hospitality/catering services and venue management.
- A demonstrated understanding of business imperatives and processes and demonstrated achievement of business success.
- Proven high-level written communication skills.
- Comprehensive knowledge and experience of local government policies and procedures particularly as they pertain to venue and facility management.
- Highly skilled in the use of Microsoft Office software, particularly excel and word, along with experience in using event management software.
- Demonstrated commitment to Work Health and Safety.
- Excellent verbal communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills, including demonstrated ability to establish and maintain working relationships with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively lead and motivate dynamic teams, including a proven ability to coach and mentor.
- A demonstrated commitment to a high level of customer service.
- A proven ability to work effectively as part of a team.
