Cairns Regional Council is currently seeking a Laboratory Assistant to join our Water and Waste Department.
Primary Objective of the position:
- Provide support for Laboratory staff
- Prepare and maintain Laboratory solutions/media and glassware
- To perform, under regular direction, less complex routine chemical and/or microbiological analyses. Level of complexity of analyses allocated increases with experience
- Undertake sample collection for the Laboratory’s programs if required
- Clean and maintain analytical equipment and stores
To be successful in this role you must have:
- Satisfactory passes at Year 12 Level in Mathematics and Science (Chemistry, Biology or other relevant science subjects)
- Tertiary Science Qualifications and experience working in a laboratory
- Experience in a water testing laboratory, or other relevant laboratory experience
- Effective interpersonal skills and the ability to work cooperatively as part of a team
- Basic knowledge of computing, particularly Microsoft products, including Word, Excel

Essential: Do you have previous experience working in a water testing laboratory, or other laboratory experience relevant to the position?
Desirable: Do you have tertiary qualifications in Science, Environmental Engineering, Business or equivalent?
Desirable: Are you proficient in the use of Microsoft Office software, particularly MS Word, Outlook and Excel? |
