Senior Strategic Planner (Temporary Position 12 Months)

Salary Range: $92,386.93 - $97,812.88 per annum

We are now seeking an innovative and suitably qualified Senior Strategic Planner to join our team now!  

Reporting to the Program Leader Strategic Planning and Sustainability, the key objective of the position is to: 

  • Control and coordinate complex projects and engage in effective interaction at various levels within Council and external to Council.
  • Provide high level specialist advice to other Council officers, stakeholders, executive team and Councillors on strategic planning matters.
  • Provide internal consultancy services to the organisation on strategic planning matters.
  • Formulate and implement policy and strategies relating to strategic planning.
  • Prepare and coordinate amendments to the CairnsPlan and associated planning scheme policies.

To be considered for this role you will require:

  • A graduate or post graduate qualifications in town planning from a recognised university or other tertiary education institution or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated extensive experience within Local Government relating to land use planning.
  • High level of knowledge of relevant State Legislation
  • Knowledge and experience in making or amending planning schemes.    
  • Current Driver’s Licence.

Selection Criteria Essential: Do you have graduate or post graduate qualifications in town planning from a recognised university or other tertiary education institution or equivalent?
Essential: Do you have planning experience within a Local Government environment or similar?
Essential: Do you have a current and valid C Class Drivers' Licence or above?
Essential: Do you have eligibility / the right to work in Australia?
