In this role you will enjoy undertaking a diverse range of tasks which will ensure that no two days are ever the same! In this role you will be responsible for: - 

  • Undertaking regular patrols and attending to enforcement of the relevant Local Laws and legislation outside of usual Council working hours
  • Investigating all complaints alleging breaches of Local Laws and relevant legislation as required by the Supervisor Animal Management
  • Educating, assisting and advising the public to ensure the observation of relevant Legislation, Local Laws and Cairns Regional Council Policies throughout the community. 

The ideal candidate will possess the following experience and attributes: 

  • Be a supportive team player with a strong a forward thinking and solution-based focus.
  • Demonstrated solid background in investigations within Local Government or other Government or enforcement roles.  
  • Possess knowledge of Local Laws or Legislation, and have previous experience in inspection, investigation and issuing of 'on the spot fines', as well as report writing in relation to enforcement.
  • Have the ability to undertake a variety of strenuous physical tasks and are able to handle animals, in particular, dogs, cats and horses, including the ability to assess and capture animals displaying dangerous behaviour.
  • Possess sound skills in operation of Microsoft applications such as Outlook, Excel &  Word.
  • Highly developed communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills and the ability to relate in a courteous and diplomatic manner, particularly in dispute situations.
